Frequently Asked Questions
Here are common questions and answers asked: (if your question isn't answered here, please contact me)
- What does a session look like?
Sessions are intensive, going for 2, ideally 3hrs. Why so long, I hear you ask, because getting to the really issues that exist in your relationship and then learning the skills to transform your relationship takes longer than the 'therapeutic hour'. There is more information on how I work here.
- What happens after the initial intensive session:
We discuss this within your session. Depending on a few factors such as the depth of hurt, length of bad habits and levels of discomfort within your relationship, ongoing sessions are available and often extremely helpful in creating your best relationship. Ongoing sessions can be hourly or as many undertake quarterly intensives. This gives time for employing the relationship empowerment skills. We discuss what is best for you and your individual relationship.
- Do you only offer face-to-face sessions?
No, Skype and Zoom sessions are available. These sessions are useful to overcome the problems of child-care, work schedules, travelling to and from my office. We can easily overcome these limiters to your relationships passion, connection and happiness.
- Do both of us have to attend?
Ideally yes, but lets be honest getting men into therapy is hard (sadly). Working individually with you can be helpful in transforming your relationship and you. The best transformations come when both of you attend, as I want the relationship to be the winner. If you just attend fabulous we will work together for you to flex some relationship empowerment muscles, you are winning. The response of your partner is dependent upon them, it will either be a win for you as you've flexed some muscle, win for them as they've responded respectfully and lovingly and therefore win for the relationship too. Or it could be win for you as you've flexed those muscles, they've lost because they've missed some skills and therefore the relationship also looses. You've still won. We would work together to help find ways that would support your partner coming, so they win as well.
- Cost and rebates?
The hourly rate is $150 AUD
Rebates, sadly Medicare does not cover counselling or psychotherapy.
Some private health funds cover counselling or psychotherapy services. It is best to contact them and ask as policies vary greatly.
- Cancelling my appointment:
If we cannot find a suitable time to reschedule your appointment, as we understand life throws hurdles and illness and conflicting schedules, 24hrs notice is respectfully requested. Cancelling the appointment can be done via text, call (0439 465 044) or email (email@example.com). Please don't use social media formats to cancel appointments.
If 24hrs is not given a cancellation fee of the full amount will be invoiced.
